Expand the reach of your analytics with Cognos Analytics release 11.1.7

Cognos 11.1 Release 7 is out, and it’s proving to pack a punch!  For those of you that were excited about Release 6, you are in for a treat.  The latest release of IBM Cognos Analytics is packed full of exciting new ways to interact with and visualize your data wherever you are, whether you are on the road or at home.  They have also made it easier to extend and customize Cognos to suit your business needs.

With version 11.0 R13 coming out of support soon, 11.1.7 will be the final long-term support release for the 11.1 build.  So what does this mean? by upgrading to the latest version, you will be supported for two-plus years with “hot” fixes and tech support.

So how is Cognos Analytics improving self-service capabilities for business?

With time-saving enhancements to dashboarding, reporting, and scheduling, the key highlights are:

  • Analytics anywhere anytime with the new mobile application  –  Access and interact with all of the rich reports and dashboards you need to make the smartest business decisions, all on your Apple iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch
  • Better performance – minimize wait times with streamlined metadata retrieval and query planning and faster, smoother rendering of animations
  • Connect to a wider array of data sources with support for REST data connector – you’ll be able to configure options on each connection to accommodate different types JSON responses, including handling for responses with pagination and various forms of authentication.​
  • Improved visualization authoring experience – Users can drag and drop data directly onto drop zones on a visualization, or they will be able to search and select the data items they need, directly from the data mapping panel.  This will save time for users and will make for a much easier authoring experience.
  • Faster creation and maintenance of schedules – IBM has completely redesigned the scheduling UI to simplify and speed up the scheduling process.
